All washed up

Rain rain go away
And don’t come back till next Sunday
A weeks vacay can’t be too hard
For you to leave my drowning yard
The grass is green, yes, thanks to you
But so are weeds I must eschew

The bugs are happy, I’ll admit
We’ve all been insolently bit
I’ve counted over one hundred
Mosquitos that my body’s fed!

And yes, it’s rude, I’ll bluntly say,
To take up two whole Saturdays.
I wouldn’t mind it quite as much
If only Mondays felt your touch
But Saturday? That’s boating time
And lightning on that day’s a crime

So please, please take a holiday
And find another place to play
I hear Nevada’s really great
They’d love to greet you in their state
So take all week, no need to hurry
We Michiganders aren’t too thirsty.

Still Here... And There...

Catching up is just so hard to do. I've been trying ever since we got back from vacation, but it's just not happening...
I have a ton of photos to upload, but don't really feel like waiting ten hours to do it... so I thought I would at least write a short summary of what's been up...

My grandfather passed away a few weeks before we were scheduled to go to Utah for vacation, so Chris decided to fly me out for the funeral and then drive the kids out a week later. I was so glad he did (even though I missed my first flight due to a long pat down), it was wonderful to see all the family at the funeral, and then spend a whole week with my mom up in Idaho. We shopped, ate out, worked in the garden, went to yard sales, walked around the falls, visited a foot zonologist, watched movies and had lunch with a talk show host...

The next week we spent at Chris's parents home, the 4th of July is one tradition that can't be missed there. Tank wars, capture the flag, glow sticks galore and of course, the usual fireworks display. The kids had a great time hanging with their cousins and playing in a homemade splash park made by uncle Dan. Ella finally got her wish after much begging and had a sleepover at Haley and Lynlee's house again, those three make quite the cute trio.

We met up with our Payson friends a few times, at PF Chang's and a Spanish Fork splash park. I got to visit with my cousins while my Aunt Barbara generously donated her time shooting photos for our family. Chris went golfing quite a few times, once with Vance (setting that up was my father's day gift to him), and then with his brothers, and Scott from the good ol' Albertsons days. There were a lot of happy reunions.

The next week was spent at my brother Brent's home, with a cousin to fit each of our kids. We got out the bounce house and water barrels and Usborne books... we went to the copper mine to watch the big trucks... and of course, we couldn't forget the yard sales... although sparse that day we found some good deals. The highlight is probably always the traditional trip to Sweet Tomatoes thanks to Grandma (I think we take up half the restaurant every time).

I'm probably forgetting a lot of stuff from our trip, I tend to do that... but that's what I got off the top of my head. I'll try to get some photos up here soon.

After coming home, it's been busy busy. We had a few days to recuperate and then Solei was off to band camp and our friends from Minnesota came to stay during their transition (they are moving here), ... and now next week Solei starts drivers training every day, and crew is starting up again, along with band (poor girl just never gets a break, but it's probably better than sitting around saying, "I'm bored" all day). Sierra is planning to audition for a play next week too, so that will keep her busy. Chris wants me to get the little kids back into swim lessons again, but I just don't know... I think I'm gonna need a vacation from summer vacation soon...

Oh, and how could I forget... We got the boat out finally, two weekends now. I actually got back on the wakeboard -- wahoo! I didn't know if I'd be able to hold the rope with my arthritis, and although I don't have a great grip, it's getting better. Getting my feet in is the most painful part actually, but after that it wasn't so bad. I even pulled out a few 180s, but I'm still a little timid when it comes to jumping the wake... Chris did it though, I think it's the first time he got up since his ankle surgery, but he was rockin' the board! Taron decided to try the kneeboard and got up his first time, he's a little pro... and Solei figured out the 360 on the kneeboard... looks like we're back in business! I live for this stuff...
